Using Label-Free Techniques for Biologics Assessment

Studying and characterizing biomolecular interactions is critical for understanding biological mechanisms and developing new therapeutics. Label-free biomolecular interaction analysis has emerged as a powerful approach for understanding molecular interactions between antibodies and their targets. Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and Bio-layer interferometry (BLI) are two of the most widely used label-free techniques, offering numerous advantages over traditional label-based detection techniques. They can monitor interactions in real time, detect weak and transient interactions, and do not require physical labeling of the interacting molecules. Researchers have also used SPR and BLI in a range of other biomedical and biotechnological applications, including protein-protein interactions, protein-small molecule interactions, and nucleic acid-protein interactions.
